Officers from Derbyshire police discovered the body of woman named Sobhia Khan after they were called to a house in Pear Tree Crescent at 9.50pm on Saturday night.
A 35-year-old man, Atual Mustafa, was later arrested and he has today been charged at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court. The force said he will appear at court in Nottingham on Wednesday.

A police car was parked outside the cordoned-off property this morning and an officer was seen standing guard at the front door. Officers previously told the Derby Telegraph they were called to a "domestic-related incident".
