Jafar Ali, 20, Killed Man with Single Punch at Dixy Chicken in Rochdale, is Jailed

Jafar Ali, 20, of Church Stile, Rochdale has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court after being found guilty of killing a man with single punch at Dixy Chicken in Rochdale.

Thursday 28 September 2017, Ali and his friends had been in Rochdale town centre and went to Dixy Chicken on Reed Hill to get some food.

A man Keith Maden, 59, was trying to get into a chip shop after leaving his local pub but was blocked from entering by Jafar Ali and a friend. A verbal disagreement started between Ali and the old man.

Mr Maden asked Ali to move out of his way but Jafar Ali punched him in face and knocked him down. Ali shouted, “You deserved that” before running off and leaving Mr Maden to die. Keith was taken to hospital, where he sadly died a short time later.

The whole incident, outside Dixy’s Chicken takeaway in Rochdale in September last year, was captured on CCTV leading to today’s conviction of Mr Ali at Minshull Crown Court, Manchester.

Ali was found guilty and was sentenced to four-and-a-half years at Minshull Crown Court.
