Contrary to the “news” Government has NOT abolished the use of or issuance of NICOP for Overseas Pakistanis

Contrary to the “news” that has been spread through social media over the past few days Pakistan Government has NOT abolished the use of or issuance of NADRA NICOP for Overseas Pakistanis.

Just for clarity the news that has been reported relates to a meeting that was held by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development on 2nd November 2018.

In this meeting the Prime Minister Imran Khan agreed to abolish the mandatory requirement for Overseas Pakistanis to obtain a NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis),

Please note that this was decision that was made at the meeting, no report of the meeting state that this is from immediate effect.

In fact it was reported that the government has decided to undertake a couple of new initiatives to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis which will be relayed in due course.

No new policy has yet been implemented and therefore the current status/requirements are still in effect, the public will be notified of any changes to policy as done so previously through the regular channels (NADRA, FIA and/or Pakistan Government Official).
