Television anchor Dr Shahid Masood who is facing corruption charges, has been sent to Adiala Jail on a 14-day judicial remand by a local court.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested Masood from the premises of the Islamabad High Court on November 23 after his bail plea had been rejected in the PTV corruption case.

The Islamabad High Court had on November 24 remanded Masood into five-day custody of FIA in the PTV corruption case.

The anchorperson was presented before the court of Duty Judge Inamullah today as his five-day judicial remand ended.
The investigation agency requested for an extension in Masood’s remand, however, the judge rejected the request and directed that he be sent to Adiala Jail on judicial remand.

Masood, the former PTV chairperson, was arrested on Friday and is being investigated for his alleged involvement in the embezzlement of Rs38 million.

According to the FIA, he signed an agreement with a fake company to obtain the media rights for the Pakistan Cricket Board.
