Family's anger after body of 'beloved uncle' left in street for three hours in Bolton

The man, thought to be in his 50s and described as "well known in the community", died in Great Lever this morning.



Police were called to Halsall Drive by the ambulance service shortly before 6am, Police said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death.


But the family of a man found dead in Great Lever have been left upset after his body was left in the street for three hours.


Family complained that no police tent was in place for three hours. Police arrived at 6am and no tent had been installed at 9.30am.

The relative said: "The body has been there hours. The police did not bring a tent.

Nadeem Akhtar, from Farnworth, relative of the deceased man said, "He was our uncle. He was a lovely man. He used to love everyone. He will be sadly missed."

A resident who lives in Lever Edge Lane, said: "I heard a bang, like a crash. Then I saw a car reverse out of Halsall Drive, I saw a car parked near the bus stop in Lever Edge Lane, It was dark so you could not really tell what was happening."

A police spokeswoman said: "The body was covered as soon as officers arrived at the scene and a tent was requested straight away.There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances and a file will be passed to the coroner."
