International Brand 'YSL' Used "Muslim Prayer Cap" for Their Latest Shoot

YSL – a French luxury fashion brand recently released their fall 2018 campaign featuring American model Kaia Gerber sporting a Muslim skull cap with a sleek black YSL bag.

The ad is for “The Vicky Bag” and it is very FINE!! But what caught everyone’s attention in the ad in which model is wearing a Muslim Prayer Cap, “Muslim topi” which is also know as “Taqiyah”.

People are not happy with this ad and left comments on official page of YSL

Hey Kaia, the muslims called they want their prayer cap back!! @Ysl 's Fall 2018 ad by @davidsimsofficial featuring @kaiagerber is out and it has the topi worn by muslims called 'Taqiyah' . Taqiyah is the Arabic word for a Muslim skullcap which is derived from Persian, means a "dome".

This concept is taken from the Jewish traditions as the cap kippah (Hebrew) literally means a "dome" (Arabic: Qubba) as well, and whoever wears this dome acknowledges the constant divine presence that covers them.

This particular type of crotched brimless skull cap is called 'Kufi' in north and western Africa

One wrote: When Muslims wear this cap, they would be targeted as TERRORISTS, But KAI can wear it as Fashion Statement.

Another wrote: Our Culture and religion is not for your Fashion.

YSL just played a wicked trick to grab the global attention of people.

“This is so wrong!!! You are benefiting from the Muslim culture without even acknowledging or attributing them.. at least give credit for you “creativity” where its due [sic],” one person commented.
