Khadim Hussain Rizvi Arrested (In Protective Custody) from Lahore

The chief of Tehreek-e-Labbaik, Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi has been taken into custody by Punjab police amid a massive crackdown on the religio-political party on Friday.

The crackdown came ahead of Rizvi's call to party members to observe martyrs’ day on November 25 (today). He had asked workers and supporters to gather at Faizabad in the federal capital — the same venue where the party had staged a weeks-long sit-in last year that had virtually paralysed the federal capital and led to several people losing their lives.

the police personnel carried out an operation on Lahore’s Multan Road and arrested at least 50 members of the politico-religious party, including their chief Khadim Rizvi .

Information Minister Ch Fawad Hussain said

Khadim Hussain Rizvi has been taken into protective custody by police and shifted to a guest house. They insisted to come to Rwp refusing Governments proposal for alternative arrangements.

It’s to safeguard public life, property and order and has to do nothing with Asia Bibi case.

Minister Information further added,

Public is requested to stay peaceful and calm. The state is responsible to defend finality and respect of Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). Law shall take its course and it cannot be left to individuals

Meanwhile, a major police crackdown is underway across Punjab to foil TLP’s gathering in the federal capital.

Rizvi has criticised the state institutions including the government, military and the judiciary on numerous occasions, most notably after a failed round of negotiations between the TLP and the government over the acquittal of Asia Bibi, a Christian woman on death row for blasphemy.
