Maher Ali, 21, YouTube rapper, jailed after police find stolen gun and machetes

Maher Ali, 21-year-old from Vaughton Street, Highgate, Birmingham, has been jailed for more than two years after police found a stolen Beretta shotgun in the back of his car.



Maher Ali was stopped on Bowyer Street, Birmingham on the afternoon of 6 November and officers found the gun wrapped in three separate pieces in a jacket in the back of his VW Golf.



Police acting on a tip-off found the gun in three parts wrapped in plastic bags inside a jacket in the passenger footwell of a Volkswagen Golf parked in Bowyer Street, Digbeth , on November 6. Ali was alone inside the car.

The gun had been stolen hours earlier from a house near Stratford-upon-Avon , Birmingham Crown Court heard .



The gun was later identified as having been stolen in a burglary in Wilmcote, Warwickshire earlier the same day.



Court heard, people spoke very highly of Ali and that, following the death of his father in 2015, he had had to step up and help his family.



He pleaded guilty to possession of a shotgun without a licence at Birmingham Crown Court today (28 November) and was jailed for two years and three months.
