Ministers Burnt Their Jackets in Protest against PIA at Islamabad Airport

Gilgit-bound Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-607 scheduled for 7am was first delayed due to technical reasons and cancelled later due to bad weather.

The passengers started chanting slogans against the airline, 2 state ministers were also waiting at airport.

Gilgit Baltistan’s Minister for Tourism Fida Hussain lost his cool and manhandled a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) official at Islamabad airport over cancellation of a Gilgit-bound flight owing to adverse weather conditions.

Later the Fida Hussain and GB Law Minister Aurangzeb Khan, who was also going to travel on the flight burned their jackets at Islamabad airport.

Mr Hussain had returned from the United Kingdom and was accompanied by more than 25 foreigners who were scheduled to fly to Gilgit along with him.

Mr Hussain, the staff is lying and making us fool, a flight for Gilgit had already departed while the second was cancelled. How come the second flight couldn’t take off owing to bad weather when the first one was already in the air.”

A video of the Ministers arguing with PIA staff and pushing a senior staffer was uploaded on social media.

Chief Justice Saqib Nisar has taken notice of the video and summoned Hussain at the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry on November 17. The minister has been asked to explain his behaviour.

The arrival manager has been summoned to the court as well.
