Nadeem Akhtar, 39, who attempted to murder Aziz, 50, is Jailed for 19 Years in Burton

Nadeem Akhtar, 39, of Shobnall Street, a Burton thug who attempted murder of Mohammed Aziz, 50, as a family feud was given 18 months for violent disorder on July 21, 2016, and 18 years in prison for the murder bid which happened on October 13, 2016 at Stafford Crown Court.

Nadeem Akhtar failed to convince top judges to overturn his conviction and to set him free.

Lawyers for Akhtar argued that his convictions were both 'unsafe' and should be overturned.

But Lady Justice Sharp said the trial judge gave the jury 'clear and robust directions, which cannot be faulted' in relation to the witness's evidence.

There was a 'long-running feud' between two families living in the same area of Burton, in a violent confrontation in 2015  bricks were thrown by two armed groups.

The dispute had previously involved numerous altercations, and erupted in disorder in the town.

In another incident in 2015 Mr Aziz was struck from behind by a Ford Mondeo, which had deliberately mounted the pavement, which left Mr. Aziz in coma to this day.

The car was found the following day on a pub car park in Horninglow Street North, covered with a sheet with its registration plates and windscreen removed, police said

Mohammed Zufeer, 27, of Horninglow Road North, was sentenced to four years behind bars after being found guilty of assisting an offender.
