Rizwan Caratella, 52, attacked his brother with axe over money dispute, is Jailed

Rizwan Caratella, 52, swing an axe at his brother’s head, smashing his arm and leaving a deep gash over a money dispute.

Rizwan Caratella had denied the charge of wounding with intent but was found guilty of the charge by a jury on Friday at Leicester Crown Court .

Abdul Caratella had been asked by his nephew to go to Danes Hill Road in Leicester's West End on September 19 last year to mend a window at the family home.

Both brother had feud over family home, which both have purchased 30 years earlier from the council for £25,000 and were joint owners.

Some years later when property value reached at £65,000, Rizwan Caratella told Abdul Caratella he should buy him out and that's what happened.

The older brother bought the defendant's share.  The property was owned by Abdul Caratella - who had moved out and was living somewhere else with his partner and son.

But by time being value of property continued to increase, reached about £280,000.  When Rizwan Caratella discovered the increased value of the property he believed he'd been tricked and it became a festering sore.

He told his brother he wanted to reverse the agreement or he must give him half of the current value and they fell out about it.

Rizwan Caratella, who still lived in the house with his mother, spotted him and came downstairs wielding the axe.

Abdul greeted him and Rizwan shouted 'Where's my money?' Rizwan then carried on attack on his elder brother and injured him.

Rizwan was jailed for five and a half years.
