Syed Ahmed Jailed for holding knife to neck of former friend over a £10 debt in Sunderland

Syed Ahmed of Peel Street, Sunderland kicked down door of his former friend in the dead of night, a knife held to his neck and was given death threats - all by his former friend because of a fall out over a £10 debt.

The 21-year-old victim was left “absolutely terrified” wanting to move “as far away as possible” after his former pal, Syed Ahmed, stormed into his home.

Former student Syed Ahmed had been pals with the victim while they were together at college but Ahmed was committed to being repaid an unpaid loan of £10.

After kicking in the door, he tried to stab him and warned "I will kill you", leaving the victim "absolutely terrified" and wanting to leave his home and move "as far away as possible".

Ahmed had borrowed £10 from the man, who he knew from Sunderland College, then “refused to pay it back”, which resulted in “bad feeling”.

The victim was at his city centre home watching television in the early hours of June 29 when Ahmed came to the door but was told to “go away”.

Ahmed returned a short time later and started kicking the victim's door. After three to four kicks the door was effectively kicked open, the door frame had smashed and the lock flew off.

The victim told police in a statement he was “absolutely terrified” during the raid and added it was “good luck” that he wasn’t stabbed.

Ahmed, who has a criminal record and was on a suspended sentence for a motoring offence was pleaded guilty to affray and having a bladed article was jailed for 15 months along with a lifelong restraining order to keep him away from the victim at Newcastle Crown Court.
