Former President Asif Ali Zardari Ready to Go Jail for alleged Fake Accounts Money Laundering

Journalist Hamid Mir has claimed that former president Asif Ali Zardari has already finalized preparations to visit jail for one more time for alleged Money Laundering.

Passing his comments during a TV show on Monday, Hamid Mir claimed that the PPP co-chairman has prepared himself to the extent that he has finalized doctoers and medicines as well for going to a jail.

‘Asif Zardari now desires that the sitting government should send him behind bars,’ claimed Mir.

The apex court had also ordered the arrest of Zardari’s close friends including AG Majeed and Hussain Lawai.

He added, After Zardari is imprisoned, the tone of his Son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would change.

The Supreme Court is investigating a high profile case regarding the alleged money laundering through 29 fake accounts.

Investigations so far have revealed that several ‘benami’ accounts were opened in 2013, 2014 and 2015 at some private banks from where transactions worth billions of rupees were made, in a fictitious manner.

The amount, according to FIA sources, is said to be black money gathered from various kickbacks, commissions and bribes.

The SC is informed that the total amount laundered is Rs 100 billion instead of an earlier estimate of Rs 35 billion.

The money laundering case is being tipped as the next Panama papers type scam for politicians in the country as the Federal Investigation Agency is investigating 32 people.
