Haaris Khan, 25, and Haaris Khan, 26, Both to be Sentenced for Death of Shamas Fakeer in Crash

VW Golf driver Haaris Khan, 25,  of West Park Road, Girlington, Bradford, was driving fast and close to a high-powered Audi RS4 on Bradford Road, Bingley, at 4am on February 26, 2017.



Moments later, the driver of the Audi lost control of his vehicle and smashed into a tree, killing his passenger, 22-year-old law graduate Shamas Fakeer.


Haaris Khan was this afternoon found guilty of causing Mr Fakeer’s death by dangerous driving and causing death while uninsured and unlicensed.


He pleaded guilty part-way through the trial to attempting to pervert the course of justice by giving false information to the police after the crash.


Audi driver also named Haaris Khan, 26 of Park Grove, Frizinghall, Bradford, pleaded guilty in October to causing Mr Fakeer’s death by dangerous driving.

Court heard that the Golf and the Audi were driving competitively from Bradford to Bingley, cars reached speeds of more than 70 miles per hour in 30mph and 40mph zones.

Both cars caught on CCTV in Cottingley travelling at 75mph shortly before the Audi driver lost control and crashed.

Golf driver, Haaris Khan pulled up in the road and went over to the wrecked Audi car. “He did not call for an ambulance or the police. He left the Golf at the scene and he went home.”


Golf driver Haaris Khan will be sentenced alongside the driver of the crashed Audi also named Haaris Khan on January 14.
