Zahier Bashir, 41, Jailed for 10 Years, Rammed into Ex-wife, Step Daughter, Attacked with Knife in Nottingham

Zahier Bashir, 41, who drove car at ex-wife and attacked her with knife is jailed for ten-and-a-half years Nottingham Crown Court on Friday 21 September 2018.



Zahier Bashir, formerly of Berridge Road Central, Nottingham, deliberately collided with a car which was being driven by his step-daughter, with his former partner in the passenger seat in Hucknall Road at about 2.20am on Sunday 1 April 2018.



When victims stopped their vehicle, Bashir got out of his car and smashed the passenger side window of the other vehicle before attacking his ex-partner with the knife.



When his ex wife got out of the vehicle Bashir drove into her twice, knocking her over, and attacked her again with the knife, slashing her to the face and about the upper body.



Passers-by stopped to assist including a motorcyclist who deliberately rode into Bashir to stop the attack. Police arrived at the scene and arrested Bashir.



Bashir’s ex-wife suffered injuries including a large cut to her cheek and step-daughter also suffered minor cuts to her hand as she tried to protect her mum from Bashir.



Bashir pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause GBH, ABH on his step-daughter, dangerous driving and breaching a restraining order and was jailed for 10 years and 6 months along with restraining order, given a six-and-a-half year driving ban and ordered to take an extended retest.
