Abdul Kuddus and Harun Rashid Jailed for Manslaughter of a Girl, 15

Mohammed Abdul Kuddus, 39, of Belper Street, Blackburn, and 38-year-old Harun Rashid, of Rudd Street, Haslingden jailed with the manslaughter of a 15-year-old girl who suffered an allergic reaction to a takeaway meal.

Victim had been spending time with family and friends before deciding to order a takeaway from Royal Spice, which is now trading under new ownership, via Just Eat.



Megan Lee died from an asthma attack after she ate food from the Royal Spice takeaway in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire.

The teenager and her friend ordered online via the Just Eat website two days earlier and wrote “prawns, nuts” in the comments and notes section.

However the delivered meal, which included an onion bhaji, a seekh kebab and a Peshwari naan, was later found to have the “widespread presence” of peanut protein.

Abdul Kuddus and manager Harun Rashid found guilty of unlawfully killing Megan, from Oswaldtwistle, by reason of gross negligence in last month.

Harun Rashid was jailed for 3 years while Mohammed Abdul Kuddus was given two years jail term.
