Drug Gang 'UZI' jailed for 40 Years in Birmingham

Drugs gang which supplied heroin and crack cocaine into market and spa towns from the West Midlands has been jailed for more than 40 years.



Gang of six members operating under name 'Uzi Line', supplied heroin and crack cocaine from Birmingham into Ledbury, Herefordshire, and Malvern, Worcestershire.



Officers estimated the ‘Uzi Line’ − as it was known − supplied around 2kg of Class A drugs and made more than £150,000 over a 12-month period supplying 133 customers on its books.

The gang were caught in an undercover operation by the West Midlands Organised Crime Unit alongside West Mercia Police.

County Lines gangs tend to operate on one phone number to order and supply drugs, usually from outside the area.

Birmingham men Zoheeb Habib, 27, Usman Rafiq, 26, Atieb Osman, 27, and Mohinoor Rashid, 22, plus Denise Lynch from Aston and Kane Payne from Oldbury, were jailed for a total of more than 40 years for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Police stopped Habib and Rafiq of Cole Hall Lane, Shard End, as they were travelling in a car on Worcester Road, Malvern, on 20 June last year shortly after capturing evidence of them striking a drug deal in Knapp Lane, Ledbury.

Other gang members named Atieb Osman, 27 and Mohinoor Rashid, 22, Kane Payne, 19 of  Ivy House Road, Oldbury, and Denise Lynch, 50 of  Fentham Road, Aston were later arrested in the operation.

The operation has netted 75 suspected drug dealers believed to be involved in a total of 10 County Lines operating out of the West Midlands and the capital.

All six gang members were charged with conspiring to supply heroin and crack cocaine.

Rafiq  was jailed for 12 years on November 16, 2018.

Atieb Osman of Stafford Road, Handsworth, was jailed for 9 yers and 6 months

Zoheeb Habib was jailed for 8 years

Mohinoor Rashid of Albert Road in Handsworth, was jailed for 6 years.

Kane Payne and Denise Lynch each received a sentence of two-and-a-half years.
