Best Response Ever to Racist Graffiti Left in Walthamstow, London

A man is being praised across the internet after ingeniously 'remixing' some racist graffiti in Walthamstow, London.

A UK artist has transformed a piece of racist graffiti that appeared on a fence in his town, giving it a more positive message.

Chris Walker, a Walthamstow-born digital designer, digital art-worker and multi-disciplinaryillustrator who tweets at @doodlebank, shared his work online, writing:

The vandalism in Walthamstow, north London, read "we speak English" and was one of a string of racist graffiti that had appeared in the area.

Taking to Photoshop to make the changes, Chris Walker edited a photo of the site so the text read "we speak", before adding a further 11 languages to reflect the multicultural area.

He let people know that the adjustment to the graffiti was made on his laptop — and not on the wall itself. “I’ve had a few grumbles from those who didn’t realise it was a photoshop job. I had a lot of requests for all the languages I’ve missed out! Also, apologies for the misspelling of ‘Punjabi’, but you can blame the Waltham Forest website for that as it was a cut and paste from that site.

"I can't please everyone, so I had a lot of requests for all the languages I've missed out!"

Social media users congratulated Walker on his design, saying they preferred his positve take on the orignial.
