Kamal Iqbal, 18, from Dumbarton, mowed down in 'honour attack' after high-speed car chase through Glasgow his cousin injured in a hit-and-run as gang pursued him over his relationship with a 17-year-old girl.
Kamal Iqbal's cousin Mobeen Shahid, 20, suffered a broken leg and arm when he was mown down by a car after becoming embroiled in an alleged vendetta.
Recalling the night of terror, student Kamal claims he was attacked in the street on Monday then pursued by a gang in two cars, who brandished baseball bats, hammers and a cricket bat.
Kamran Iqbal had been at the cinema with his girlfriend, of Pollokshields and says the trouble began when he put her in a taxi home from the city centre.
Two older men approached him and his cousin and grabbed them by the throat, they showed a lock knife in the waistband of trousers, but Kamran Iqbal and his cousin managed to run away.
They got a taxi to Anniesland, where they got into the car of Kamal’s brother Jamal, who drove to Pollokshields.
They claim they were spotted by gang members in a BMW, who followed them to the west end, trying to ram them and side swipe them in the car as it sped across the Kingston Bridge.
When they reached a cousin's house and got out of the car , but Mobeen couldn’t get out of the way and the BMW ran into him. He got thrown in the air and was in a bad way. He is lucky they didn’t kill him.”
A relative of the young girl later turned up at the hospital and told Kamal’s family that she had came home after “being drugged up”.
Police are hunting a mob who tried to kill a man in an “honour attack” after a
high-speed car chase through Glasgow.
