PMLN Khawja Saad Rafique Got Arrested along with Brother into a Mega Land Scam

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Khawaja Salman Rafique after their bail pleas were rejected by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday.

The duo appeared before the Lahore High Court to seek extension in the interim bails, however, the plea was rejected by the court.

Following the dismissal of the request, a NAB team took the duo in custody.

The National Accountability Bureau had issued their arrest warrants in the Paragon housing scam. Saad Rafique's name came up in an investigation into corruption in Railways Ministry, and Ashiana and Paragon housing scams, according to the NAB.

The NAB launched an investigation into the alleged embezzlement and corruption in housing society when the case related to Asiana scheme was being probed.

Rafique is accused of holding major shares in Paragon City, Saad Rafique, his wife and his brother benefited by land in the society.

It had emerged during the probe that a dubious deal for the exchange of land over 40 kanal was also made between Ashiana and Paragon.

In the Paragon scam case, the anti-corruption watchdog had already arrested Qaiser Amin Butt, a close aide of the former railways minister.

However, he denies this and says he only owns a few houses and land in the society.

PML-N has submitted an application in the National Assembly for the issuance of Khawaja Saad Rafique's production order. Just like a tactic used in Shahbaz Shairf case.

The party wants Rafique to attend the ongoing session of the National Assembly
