A woman has been sentenced to life in jail for killing her husband and disposing his body.
The East judicial magistrate convicted Zainab Bibi, 49, and her nephew Zahoor Ahmed, 29 on Thursday.
The incident happened in 2011, in Karachi where the woman was living in a rented house.
Zainab Bibi had been living at the house with her daughter Sonia from another marriage, and her new husband Ahmad Abbas, who she married five years ago and who used to be Sonia's teacher when she was at school.
The landlord, who lived on the ground floor of their two-storey Green Town house, was so perturbed due to the foul odour coming from the upper portion. He went upstairs to inquire.
Police was informed and they arrested the woman and registered against her at the Shah Faisal police station.
Zainab Bibi, 49, allegedly told authorities she killed her husband Ahmad Abbas because he tried to assault her then (17-year-old ) daughter from another marriage.
She told police she sedated her husband by mixing sleeping pills in his tea and strangled him with rope before dismembering him.
Bibi claims she had stopped Mr Abbas from touching her daughter on several occasions, admitting that he had never actually laid a hand on her but had said suggestive things about her when he was drunk.
The East judicial magistrate convicted Zainab Bibi and her accomplice Zahoor and jailed her for life on Thursday 20th December 2018.
