Mohammed Nisar Khan- Meggy, along 2 accomplice Jailed for 60 Years for Killing Amriz Iqbal

Notorious Bradford Gangster, 41 years old Mohammed Nisar Khan, known as Meggy, along with 2 others jailed for total 60 years for Killing 40-year-old Amriz Iqbal in October last year as he walked along Sandford Road in Bradford Moor with a friend.

The pair were hit by a Kia Sedona being driven by Bradford criminal Mohammed Nisar Khan who had been “touring” the area that lunchtime with others in the car.

Mr Iqbal, from Bradford, died from his injuries in hospital, but his friend Adnan Ahmed was not badly hurt in the crash.

Mohammed Nisar Khan, of Holme Lane, Tong, Bradford, and his “right hand man” Tony Grant, 39, known as Granty, of Queens Road, Bradford, were convicted by the jury this morning of murdering Amriz Iqbal, 40, known as Major.

Jurors also heard evidence about subsequent attempts to recover or destroy crucial CCTV footage from a petrol station on Whitehall Road in Birkenshaw.

Khan, Grant and Salman Ismail, 31, of Hollin Road, Shipley, Bradford, were convicted of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice by plotting to firebomb and rob the Whitehall Road Service Station in Birkenshaw to destroy CCTV footage of Khan and Grant there with the Kia Sedona an hour before the murder.

Within hours of the attack the Kia was disposed of and later that night an attempt was made to firebomb and then rob the petrol station.

Mr Iqbal had returned from Dubai two days before he was murdered. The motive for the killing was “somewhat cloudy” but Khan decided there was a problem to be resolved by violence, the judge stated.

“It is clear that information must have come to the attention of you Mr Khan that Mr Iqbal was back (from Dubai) and for some reason best known to you and your group there was a problem to be resolved and clearly with violence,” said the judge.

“You are ruthless and dangerous, command obedience and loyalty and consider yourself untouchable,” the judge told Khan.

The court heard that Khan had ten previous convictions for 51 offences, including an offence of robbery dating back to 1999, possession of a controlled drug, dangerous driving and affray.

Meggy was sentenced to life with a minimum of 26 years at the court, with his sentence including a discretionary life sentence for the attempted murder of Mr Ahmed.

Granty right hand man of Meggy received life with a minimum of 17 years for the murder.

Salman Ismail, whom Meggy ordered to destroy the CCTV footage at the petrol station was jailed for 17 years for arson and perverting the course of justice.
