Boxing legend Amir Khan turned 32 years old today on 8th December, having turned 32, Amir is celebrating his birthday in Birmingham with US-born wife Faryal Makhdoom and his 2 daughters.
Amir is a former light-welterweight world champion. He is Britain’s youngest boxing medallist when he won a silver at the 2004 Olympics in Greece.
He was born in 8 December 1986 in Bolton, Manchester and started boxing at the age of 11. Amir Khan won 33 fights out of 37 and 20 knock outs, until now.
Khan, 32 on Saturday, wants two or three more fights before retiring. The sport which has been his life for 20 years made him Britain’s youngest Olympic boxing medallist at 17 and has earned him an estimated fortune of £18m. Now, though, he has an exit strategy.
“I’m 32, Before I’m 33 I’m going to be calling it a day,” he tells . “I’ve had a great career, I’m happy with it and I don’t want to be in the game too long. This is where a fighter starts to get injuries.”
Khan has been preparing for retirement in recent years by establishing two combat series, Super Boxing League and Super Fight League, the latter of which features mixed martial arts, in Asia.
“By the time that matures, hopefully the boxing career will be the right time [to quit],” he says.
