Last night lights of the Bahria Town Karachi were turned off due to the financial crisis the real estate developer is facing, as its inflow of cash is in the control of the Supreme Court.
Reports of panicking overseas investors, and cancelled contracts have been received from insiders at Bahria Town , who claim that the non-availability of funds due to diverted cash flow to satisfy Supreme Court directions have left the real estate giant unable to pay salaries. And even unable to keep the lights on. Bahria Town Karachi last night switched off the lights, alarming residents and investors.
These funds are awaiting the SC’s verdict. Till then all projects of the Bahria Town will remain closed.
Bahria Town residents, contractors, builders and employees were all part of the protests who appealed to the chief justice and prime minister to resolve their issue.
Around 165,000 members of the Bahria Town, who were satisfied with their decision to invest in the project, are also worried about losing their life-long savings.
The protesters had blocked the Super Highway between Karachi and Hyderabad over non-payment of dues. Traffic was blocked on both sides of the highway for several hours.
It is said that Malik Riaz who is in trouble and facing corruption and land grabbing cases is supreme court is using tactics to affect his cases in SC by putting pressure from public.
He is under trial for several months and no Pakistani media break a single news against him, but the protest by Bahria town employees was highlighted all the day.
Many of the people who are affected by SC decision, said they support the decision as it is time to say no to corruption and give way to rule of law for our children and coming generations.
