Faisal Adalat, 24, of Milton Place, Halifax, was high on cocaine when he threw a brick through the window of the property in Stamford Street, off Bowling Back Lane, Bradford, on August 9.
He was caught with the television set, and the remote control in his pocket, told the police: “I stole it from that house over there.”
Adalat, who was on prison licence at the time, said he heard voices telling him to teach the home owner a lesson.
The court heard that he was caught with the television set, and the remote control in his pocket, when a neighbour raised the alarm at 4am. When challenged by the police, Adalat immediately pointed out the house he had raided.
Court heard, he took cocaine for five days before committing the burglary.
A victim impact statement from the householder said they had been left feeling anxious and insecure and the children no longer felt safe at night.
Adalat’s barrister, Jayne Beckett, said he had a personality disorder and had repeatedly asked for help while on remand in prison.
Adalat, 24, of Milton Place, Halifax, pleaded guilty to burglary and was jailed for eight months at Bradford Crown Court on Monday.
