How Overseas Pakistanis Can Register their Mobile Devices at Airports in Pakistan

The registration process is entirely voluntary. When you arrive in the country, you can register your device(s) at the Customs counter at the airport you land at.




Minister of State for Revenue Hammad Azhar said that people flying into Pakistan will be allowed to register one handset without having to pay duty charges. Furthermore, foreign visitors will not have to register or pay duty charges on mobile devices that fulfil the following conditions:

For benefit of people travelling into Pak from abroad, the mobile tax policy for you is:

1) One phone allowed to be registered as duty free

2) No Registration/Duty needed on any phone(s) using roaming

3) No Reg/Duty needed if phone(s) to be used in Pak for less than 30 days.


No registration/duty required on any phone that was activated or ever used in Pak before the 1st of December 2018.


How to Register your Mobile Phone in Pakistan at Airport:

The government is basically attempting to control the influx of smuggled mobile devices through a system called 'DIRBS'. That's short for Device Identification Registration & Blocking System.


Visitors can pay duty charges and register their handsets at the airports or in any custom house across the country.


Phones are not detained during the process of registration or duty payments.


Fill the declaration form and hand it to the authorities. The form is available at: https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/DeclarationFormforMobileHandsets.pdf


Or you can register the mobile device at a Custom House Office near your location within 15 days of arrival.


Here are the location of Custom Houses:

Karachi:  KPT Head Office in Kharadar. 

Lahore: AG Office in Anarkali

Islamabad: KRL Hospital in G-9/1.

Peshawar:  University Town off GT Road.



What Information is Required:

15 digit IMEI (to obtain  it dial *#06# from your mobile)

CNIC#

Passport# and Date of Issue

Date of Arrival and Flight Number

Customs will use that information to register the device's IMEI against your name.



TIP: You can save time if you have a copy of (Passport, Traveling Ticket, Boarding Pass and CNIC/NICOP).

For people bringing in phones from abroad, as per personal baggage rules. One phone per annum is allowed duty free and up to a maximum of 5 phones in a year can be brought in. The duty on remaining 4 will have to be paid if you require service in Pakistan beyond 30 days.
