Mohammed Akhtar,29, Jailed for 11 Years, Drugs, Revolver and Machete Recovered in his Car

Drugs dealer, Mohammed Akhtar, 29, of Ombersley Road, Balsall Heath has been jailed for more than 11 years after he was caught with a revolver and machete in his car.



Mohammed Akhtar who was parked up in Woodfield Crescent, Balsall Heath, on 1 November this year was searched by police and police found the gun in a bag and two rounds of live ammunition in the footwell, along with a machete.



Further search recovered wraps of heroin and crack cocaine were found in his jacket pocket.



Mohammed Akhtar pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon, firearm and ammunition; along with heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply.

He was sentenced to 11 years and two months at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday 17 December.



"These were two potentially dangerous weapons and drugs which have been taken off our streets.

"This significant sentence shows that weapons and drugs are not accepted within our society and further highlights our on-going commitment to keeping our communities safe."
