The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) released the sample results of 156 ice cream and frozen dessert brands on Saturday, declaring 47 of them to be unfit for human consumption.
PFA Director General Capt (r) Muhammad Usman said that 47 samples were failed to meet the standards of Punjab Pure Food Regulations out of 156 samples.
He said the products of Gourmet, Chamman, Royal and Badami Kulfa were included in the list of failed category.
He maintained that anybody can download the results from the authority’s website. PFA directed that all those brands which failed to meet the standards stop production. The authority will collect samples for another test after ensuring proper reforms, he said.
Further, PFA also seized 1,300 kilogrammes of substandard and unhygienic meat belonging to emaciated and sick animals during an operation in the provincial capital on Saturday.
He further said that PFA declared failed products unfit for human consumption and PFA was now removing their products from market. The samples were collected in September 2018.
Muhammad Usman added that anybody could download the complete list of the sample results from the PFA website (www.pfa.gop.pk). PFA also ordered to stop the production of all those brands that failed to meet the standards in the analysis report of laboratory test. PFA will again collect samples for laboratory test after ensuring proper reforms.
He said that PFA would not allow anyone to play with the lives of people especially innocent children.
